Rail Car Diner

Need a diner for your layout? This is a fun build using an MDC Roundhouse Harriman Passenger Car & a 3D printed interior from Gold Rush Bay. If you’re not familiar with this company, check out their website. Beautiful 3D stuff in many scales. Gold Rush Bay Victorian Train Miniatures HO Scale

Additions to both ends of the car were made to give it some more interest. A scratch-built entry & a back door loading dock makes for more detail than just a straight-line structure. Parts box, once again, comes in very handy. Some sort of shed, shanty, whatever it was, along with some pink doors hiding in one of the junk boxes were utilized.

The interior has quite a lot of detail & they are made to fit nicely in the passenger cars. Scrap plastic was used for the entrance roof & cut to fit. Custom decals added the diner’s name & advertising. Steps are a mix of plastic scraps & old building foundations from kits.

Here’s the cheapest plastic sheets you can find. You get them in the mail, when you check into a motel & on shirts, jackets, etc. Figures were added, as will be lighting so this diner will come to life in the layout. Gold Rush Bay’s car interiors are greatly detailed & paint up well.

Steps were made from scrap plastic & the fence dresses it all up. Loading dock is from parts box.
